I am a RHCE certified Linux engineer. I started off as a web hosting support managing websites hosted in servers powered by panels such as WHM, cPanel and Plesk. Then I switched into setting up a Linux environment in an office with a proper LAMP stack, samba & nfs shares, proper authentication via LDAPm setting up mail servers etc.
Then I got the opportunity to manage servers which hosted active ecommerce sites in UK. I had to perform server maintenance, backup and administration activities, all the while ensuring that website traffic is not congested and bottlenecks are avoided. This was tested to the limits during server migration, just causing a minimalistic downtime.
Then came a project which required extensive shell scripting and in-depth knowledge of cloud computing. This life science project needed shell scripts to compare two DNA\'s and produce outputs, which would later be provided to scientists to infer decisions. To perform the operations, shell scripts were used to compare two text files(DNA\'s) which had a size of few hunderd GB\'s to even a TB. Comparing such files needed systems with huge processing power, which were leveraged from the amazon cloud (AWS), and were de-allocated when not in use. By the time I resigned I was in-charge of the entire private and public cloud systems.
Currently I own a IT service providing firm. But my love for Linux related systems sees me working more as a engineer than an entrepreneur.
